The Caribbean island of Barbados has put Vietnam in a list of countries of concern over Covid, which requires visitors to undergo seven-day quarantine.

With effect from last Saturday, visitors from Vietnam, even if fully vaccinated, are required to furnish the result of a Covid PCR test taken within three days before travel and get another done at the airport.

They will be quarantined for seven days at their own expense at a designated facility.

They will be tested on the eighth day and can leave quarantine if they test negative.

Canada plans to allow fully vaccinated travelers from all countries including Vietnam to enter from September 7 "provided Canada’s Covid-19 pandemic situation remains favorable."

Visitors must have had their second shot at least 14 days prior to entering Canada and meet certain entry requirements. They will still be required to submit a negative Covid test.

The UAE has announced a further extension of the ban on passenger flights from 16 countries including Vietnam until further notice, The Gulf News reported.

Several other countries have been banning and imposing stricter quarantine measures for travelers from Vietnam, which is grappling with a new wave caused by the Delta variant of Covid.

More than 4.33 million people have been vaccinated in Vietnam though only 317,672 have received two doses.
