The charm of Nha Trang from the air

 Coastal town Nha Trang's beautiful landscape comprising sea, sun and high-rises is depicted in a series of aerial shots taken by local resident Tran Anh Khoa.

Khoa said the photo series aims to introduce international travel buffs to his hometown landscape. The beach town in Khanh Hoa Province is a cultural and economic center of south-central Vietnam. It is well known for its crystal-blue waters, white sand, smooth waves, national monuments and festivals.

The coast along Tran Phu Street is about 12 kilometers long, embracing the town. With its turquoise-blue waters, parks and luxuriant trees, it is a top attraction of Nha Trang.

This street is home to the 100-year-old Nha Trang Institute of Oceanography, with thousands of marine specimens on display.

A cable system connects the shore with islands in Nha Trang Bay.

Nha Trang was named among the global Top 10 best places for scuba diving in 2020 by Forbes magazine and Top 29 most beautiful bays by the Club of the Most Beautiful Bays in the World in 2003.

April 2 Square is one of the most iconic spots in town, where people and tourists socialize, hangout and take souvenir photos.

Opposite is a night market, selling many items like clothes, souvenirs and food. The highlight of the square is the three-storey Tram Huong Tower (left).

Waves gently lap against Alexander Yersin Park - where the statue of the eponymous doctor is located. The Swiss doctor from the Medical University of Paris explored many parts of the world, but chose Nha Trang as his final stop.

Yersin was the founder of Nha Trang Pasteur Hospital and Medical University in Hanoi. He was also the one who discovered Hon Ba mount area in Khanh Hoa and Lang Biang Highland in Lam Dong Province.

Traveling north from the town center along Tran Phu Bridge tourists can visit the Hon Chong relic site, then continue along Luong Son Pass to make the most of either sunrise or sunset.

The photographer said he took this image from the 40th floor of a hotel, where he hunkered down "waiting for the best lighting".

Dam Market, built in 1970, is two storeys high, featuring a circular design and V-shaped roof symbolizing a lotus. After more than 40 years of operation, a dilapidated Dam Market was closed on March 31.

Nha Trang Cathedral, also known as Mountain Church, is one of the most unique architectural works of this town. The church was built in 1928 on the cliff of Bong Mountain, 12 meters higher than the road surface in the town center.

To create its foundation, the construction unit used about 500 explosives. Its architecture is reminiscent of Sa Pa Church in Sa Pa Town, Lao Cai Province and some others scattered across Vietnam.

A high bell tower with three bells is a recognizable trait of Western Catholic churches.

French-styled Nha Trang Station was inaugurated in September 1963 on Thai Nguyen Street. The station features a bulb-shaped track, with all trains required to enter at a maximum speed of 15 kph.

Ponagar Tower is a Cham temple located on the top of a hill about 10 meters above sea level, at the mouth of Cai River, Vinh Phuoc Ward.

This is one of the largest Cham cultural heritage sites in the country. The structure consists of three floors with stone steps going from bottom to top.

There was once a Tower Gate area, which has been destroyed. The middle floor, called Mandapa, is a place for guests to rest and prepare offerings. There are four clusters of columns forming an octagon, including 12 small outer columns and 10 large inner columns.

This picture shows the route near the Ma Vong roundabout, with October 23 Street connecting Dien Khanh District to the town center via Thai Nguyen, Yersin and Thong Nhat streets.

Behind lie many new tall buildings and hotels that represent local development in recent years.

Hon Chong tourism site in Pham Van Dong Street is lit up at night.

According to the national urban classification plan for the period 2021-2030, Khanh Hoa is expected to become a municipality under government management, like Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Hai Phong, Da Nang and Can Tho.

Nha Trang is oriented to become an international and national marine tourism urban area and a tourism and commerce hub of Southeast Asia.
